Have you ever noticed, when someone wants your opinion, they say, "A penny for your thoughts?"  But if you volunteer your opinion, you put your "Two cents in."  What does that mean for instructors?

Maybe it means the value of your solicited thoughts is half of your volunteered thoughts. Maybe individually, we overestimate how valuable our thoughts are to others. Maybe it means we can be more valuable if we listen rather than talk, ask questions rather than spout facts, elicit involvement rather than lecture. Maybe it doesn't mean anything.  You get to decide.
